Iowa’s first-in-the-nation Republican caucus means the Hawkeye state is also the first stop for candidates with their sights set on the presidency. Candidates often make the traditional appearances at banquet halls and auditoriums, but also at more obscure locals such as Pizza Ranch buffets and trap shoots. The spectacle is part of the alure.
